Thank you all so much!

Tonny, I used the same technique again as in the last one, using those Faber Castell pencils. But in addition, this time I also had oil pastels which I used for the large black areas.

I will get you a bigger and better version of this one, promised!

Just been skimming through this old thread because I thought I posted that LotR-banner I mentioned in the Mechandising thread and I'm shocked that it's now been more than *gulps* 2 years since I have touched a pencil, a pen or a brush... Work and life has eventually managed to corrupt my mind, free spirit and soul so I sadly haven't ever retrieved my muse and calmness to paint. I'm in doubt I would find it again that soon... It sucks, really...

Well... I conceive suspicion, so to speak... I really can't become calm enough to sit there and draw something onto a blank page/canvas anymore. The concentration that is needed, the long process of a painting... I'm doing a hectic job all week so I even can't be at ease on the week-ends. Maybe it's a beginning of a burnout or something. I read about that. It begins with neglecting loved hobbies.

When you're stressed, it is not use trying because it won't work! I know!
I do hope you will find some rest. I loved your work!

I've started to paint again!!!!!!!!

Although - those who might expect it, I won't do any more portraits of our beloved Orlando. I think I'm done with that "project"

Here is the reference of my current painting, which is already amost finished. I still need to add some details. It shows a sand dune at the Baltic Sea. (My boyfriend asked me to add some seagulls )

Once the painting is done, I will post a photo of it, of course.

The painting is already almost done. I showed it to my dad the other day and he stood there, and said, "You accomplished THAT in only two days? Gosh, I'm gobsmacked."

Well, I might have to add the size of the painting: 100 cm x 70 cm (which is about 39.37 inch x 27.56 inch). You can guess, a lot of paint has been used up so far. But I'm surprised about myself: such a large painting and I needed less than two days for most of it.

A few details in the grass have to be painted as well as the sand - I'm not really pleased with the texture and shading. But I would say, watch this space. The pic might be here on Friday.

I didn't really believed I could make it until today, but voilá, here it is.

And a detail of the grass - that was a pain in the a... to paint!

Heey That's really lovely Beri!
what did you use, acrylic?

I can see how the grass was a pain in the a.. it usually is.
the shade in the sand is well done
Love the waves -they are in motion- and the clouds came out good
The seagul is perfect!!

Really well done!!

Thank you all for your wonderful comments!

I used oil on canvas for this painting.

Right now, I'm building a frame for it. When that's done also, I will post another picture. The above was taken inside, so sorry for the little blur and the light reflex.

Well, actually, it's "touchable" already. I used a drying activator mixed with the oil colours. Not only does it make the colour dry quicker but also boosts its brightness.

In about two weeks we're going to have our annual "Wood Festival" (I don't know a better word to translate it, sorry ), and our theme this year will be "Frisian Culture" or something like that. I will have to sell all sorts of "Fishy niblets", also Rollmops and such - and I already said I might bring that painting with me to hang it up in my shack. So to speak to exhibit it. Maybe a few people would either like to buy it or get a painting like that for their own four walls at home...

So... my new project might eventually be some kind of break-through for me. Yesterday my dad said that he met a guy who would pay a fortune for a portrait of the famous horse "Totilas". Well then... I'm searching for photos now and will do it. Who knows, maybe I will have a nice little story to tell you in a few weeks.

EDIT

Okay, so I hope you will notice this.

I'm almost done with the frame of my "last" painting and it looks like this now. I will add a few real seashells to the bottom right corner and maybe some other decorative stuff - but not too much. Focus should stay on the painting of course.

CLICK - IT'S BIG!
