Months without news and now that he will go to Cannes to promote Cosmopolis, which has been selected to be in competition at the film festival, there are news coming out of two future projects he has now listed:

“Mission: Blacklist”

LOS ANGELES, CA – May 2, 2012 – Robert Pattinson has come on board to star in the upcoming film “Mission: Blacklist” with Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire committed to direct. The screenplay was adapted by “Band of Brothers” writer and producer Erik Jendresen from the Harper Collins novel Mission: Black List #1 written by military interrogator Eric Maddox with Davin Seay. Ross M. Dinerstein, Managing Partner of Preferred Content, is producing alongside Jendresen and Kevin Waller.

Embankment Films, the international sales and distribution company recently launched by international sales veterans Tim Haslam and Hugo Grumbar will begin selling the film at the upcoming Cannes Film Market.

”Mission: Blacklist” is a psychological thriller that details the true, inside story of the search for Saddam Hussein and the interrogator, Eric Maddox, who spearheaded his capture.

“This movie is a gripping, edge of your seat thriller,” says Dinerstein. “I have been inspired by Robert and Jean-Stéphane’s dedication to tell this story in the most authentic way possible, and I’m thrilled to add Hugo and Tim to our team.”

Pattinson can next be seen in David Cronenberg’s “Cosmopolis,” which is premiering at the Cannes Film Festival in May. Sauvaire’s last film, “Johnny Mad Dog,” premiered at the 2008 Cannes Film Festival where it won the Prize of Hope.

WME represents Pattinson, Jendresen, and Sauvaire. Pattinson is managed by 3 Arts Entertainment and represented by the Curtis Brown Group in the UK. Sauvaire is managed by Anonymous Content.

The deal was brokered by WME Global’s Graham Taylor and Deborah McIntosh and Preferred Content’s Kevin Iwashina and Christine D’Souza. WME Global and Preferred Content will be corepresenting the North American rights.

Robert Pattinson, who may surprise more than one in three weeks when Cosmopolis will be presented at Cannes, is not visibly stopping there. In a shift to "adult" movies the Twilight star will continue with Mission: Blacklist, the new film by Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire, the 2008 director of the impressive Johnny Mad Dog.

This is a thriller based on the book by Eric Maddox, the military interrogator who was the brains of the operation that led to the capture of Saddam Hussein in December 2003. Erik Jendresen, writer of the series Band of Brothers, was responsible for adapting. Shooting is scheduled to begin in the fall.

"As director Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire normally does not work with professional actors, I thought I had no hope of getting the part says Rob [to the journalist of Première].But we met several times and we got on really well together. Sauvaire has found a very exciting way of filming this. It’s strange, as it is a war film, but it’s shown mainly though the military interrogations done by Maddox. Language and the barriers it may create play a very important part. The focus is mainly on the real-life story of this military interrogator, Eric Maddox, who will soon come with us in Iraq to do a
series of location scoutings."

Rob goes on, "he director, Sauvaire, is really an astonishing person. He’s got a gift for meeting
people. He thus met and spent some time talking with the Iraqi Minister for Culture, quite by chance. He also bumped into a guy who was one of the former leaders of the Hussein clan and who had been very close to Saddam. I asked Sauvaire, ‘But how do you do it to get to know a guy like that ?’ and it turned out that Sauvaire had just bumped across the guy in a bar in Paris!. After Johnny Mad Dog, an ultra-violent film which immersed the viewer directly into the day to day life of African child-soldiers, and which was shot in Liberia, Sauvaire seems to have found an ideal theme for his explosive vision. Johnny Mad Dog was an extremely strong film, which had all the value of a real documentary, while having a great cinematic quality , says Rob, enthusing over the film. I’m so eager to start working with Sauvaire on Mission: Blacklist. It’s going to be a f***ing great film.

Robert Pattinson and Guy Pearce are in negotiations to star in David Michod's "Rover."

Pearce will star as a man who after having his car stolen by a group of men pursues them through the wild and rugged Australian Outback. Pattinson will portray one of the thiefs.

Michod will helm and wrote the script which based on an idea he and "Animal Kingdom" star Joel Edgerton originated. David Linde and Liz Watts will produce through Linde's Lava Bear banner and Porchlight Films.

Pattinson is repped by WME and 3 Arts. Pearce is repped by CAA.

Aside from all the scandal related to his girlfriend cheating on him, Rob came out to the spotlight to promote his film Cosmopolis opening in US and there are more great news, aside promoting his new film with Cromenberg there are news about Rob´s future projects, and they are reporting Rob will work with German director Werner Herzog co-starring with Naomi Watts in Queen of the Desert .


His projects lined up are:

- Queen of the Desert (Werner Herzog’s biopic of Gertrude Bell, Rob will plat T.E. Lawrence)
- The Rover (post-apocalyptic thriller set to star with Guy Pearce)

The "Twilight" actor will play T.E. Lawrence, better known as Lawrence of Arabia.

Robert Pattinson is attached to play Lawrence of Arabia in Queen of the Desert, Werner Herzog’s biopic of Gertrude Bell.

Naomi Watts is starring as Bell, described as the female Lawrence of Arabia for the impact the English woman had in the Middle East and her work in establishing what would become the modern framework for Jordan and Iraq. She was an explorer, writer, archeologist and political attache and during World War I, worked for British Intelligence.

Pattinson will play T.E. Lawrence, the archeologist-turned-British Army officer who played key roles in Middle Eastern revolutions in the same time period and became close friends with Bell. Peter O'Toole portrayed the explorer in the 1962 classic.

Herzog wrote the screenplay. Nick Raslan is producing with Cassian Elwes.

A fall shoot in Jordan and England is being eyed.

The move keeps Pattinson firmly in the world of independent film. One of the world’s most recognizable stars, the actor is this week promoting Cosmopolis, his drama directed by David Cronenberg. He is set to star with Guy Pearce in the post-apocalyptic indie The Rover as well as Mission: Blacklist, an indie thriller about Saddam Hussein’s capture.

Just days before "Cosmopolis" opens in limited release, star Robert Pattinson has joined the cast of Werner Herzog's indie "Queen of the Desert," which will star Naomi Watts as English writer Gertrude Bell.
Pic will chronicle Bell's life as a writer, archaeologist, explorer, cartographer and political attache for the British Empire. One of the first women to graduate from Oxford at the turn of the 20th century, she traveled through the Middle East, defining the borders of Iraq, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.

Pattinson is attached to play T.E. Lawrence, a British Army officer whose writing earned him international fame as Lawrence of Arabia, on whom David Lean's classic 1962 epic is based. Lawrence was a good friend to Bell over the years, as the duo helped establish the Hashemite dynasties in Jordan and Iraq.

Now, this is how you not only get over a breakup, but continue to build a helluva resume. Say what you will about Robert Pattinson, but he is using his "Twilight" fame to take on challenging, interesting projects. Over the past few months, he's attached himself to "Mission: Blacklist" about the hunt for Saddam Hussein, a mystery movie about The Band, and "Animal Kingdom" director David Michod's "The Rover." But wow, we could not have seen this next move coming.

Pattinson will co-star in Werner Herzog's next film "Queen Of The Desert" opposite Naomi Watts. The film will tell the true story of Gertrude Bell (Watts), the traveler, writer, archaeologist, explorer, cartographer, and political attaché for the British Empire at the dawn of the twentieth century. So who will Pattinson play? Only one of the most important figures in recent history, T.E. Lawrence aka Lawrence Of Arabia, who worked with Bell to establish the Hashemite dynasties in Jordan and Iraq.

This movie first started percolating well over a year ago, but this bit of news certainly kicks it to high gear. Indeed, production is now being aimed for a late fall start (we'd guess after 'Breaking Dawn 2' press obligations are over), and hopefully this gets the ball rolling on what will be Herzog's first narrative film since 2009's double whammy of "Bad Lieutenant: Port Of Call New Orleans" and "My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done" (yeah, it's been that long). Hopefully, this historical epic won't involve moving a boat over a mountain, but Herzog + Pattinson? That's the craziest thing we've heard since Cronenberg + Pattinson....oh, wait....

Rob to star in "Hold On To Me" with Carey Mulligan

EXCLUSIVE: As packages firm up for AFM, here’s one that will surely reverberate in Santa Monica. Robert Pattinson is signing on to star with Carey Mulligan in Hold On To Me. The film will be directed by James Marsh, who won an Oscar for the docu Man On Wire and followed with Project Nim.

Pic is based on a true story about a femme fatale who with her boyfriend kidnaps and ransoms the town’s richest man. They bury him in a box and things go horribly awry. Pattinson plays the flashy supporting role of the woman’s life love, Jimmy, who isn’t involved in the crime. The project was scripted by Brad Ingelsby.

Indian Paintbrush’s Steven Rales, Mark Roybal and Michael Pruss are producing with Alexandra Milchan. Also producing is Todd Field, who originally developed the film to direct, but stepped off to helm Creed of Violence for Cross Creek.

Pattinson adds this to an early 2013 schedule that will have him starring opposite Guy Pearce in the David Michod-directed The Rover, and he is also starring in Mission Blacklist, the true story of the U.S. military interrogator responsible for discovering the location of Saddam Hussein in the hunt for the fallen leader. He is repped by WME and 3 Arts.

Pattinson will join Carey Mulligan in the previously announced "Nancy And Danny" which is now called "Hold On To Me." But this isn't some swoony romance. Pennedy by Brad Ingelsby ("Out Of The Furnace"), and set to be directed by James Marsh ("Project Nim," "Shadow Dancer") the story follows a money hungry woman, whose life didn't turn out the way she wanted, who uses a man as a pawn to help land her high school crush in a get-rich-quick scheme. And that plan is to bury the town's richest man in box and hold him for ransom, but of course, things don't go as their supposed to.

The film also brings Pattinson into the orbit of another great filmmaker, Todd Field, who is producing the project after being originally attached to direct (he's now focusing on "The Creed Of Violence"). Now before anyone gets too excited, this is a package project headed to the American Film Market which means if it doesn't get some decent pre-sales, it ain't gonna happen. But Pattinson is clearly done with blockbusters for the moment, and we like everyone involved, and given the talent on board, we don't see why this can't make a planned 2013 shoot.
