Star Trek (2009)

Considering I am a HUGE Star Trek fan, and seeing all the attention the proyect is getting from the media lately, I start this thread to gush about it and to post any news referred to it (if it is ok to do so, mods :oops).

The film will focus on the early years of the original crew of the USS Enterprise at the Starfleet Academy.

This is the main news site of the film at StarTrek.com:

http://www.startrek.com/startrek/vie...011/index.html

The official announced cast includes: Zackary Quinto (Spock), Zoë Saldana (Uhura), Anton Yelchin (Chekov), Leonard Nimoy (old Mr Spock) and Eric Bana as the bad guy "Nero" . Chris Pine was recently named as the possible young James T. Kirk.

Teaser poster:

Main shooting start next month, so this place will be often updated

(I still pray to make my dream come true and see Lt/Cmdr/Captain Bloom in the film ) In the meantime, I keep dreaming ...

Simon Pegg is Scotty in Star Trek

October 12, 2007

Paramount Pictures has signed Simon Pegg to play Scotty in J.J. Abrams' Star Trek.

He joins Eric Bana, Anton Yelchin, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana and Leonard Nimoy in the new movie based on the classic TV series.

Written by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, the story chronicles the early days of James T. Kirk and his fellow USS Enterprise crew members during their time at Starfleet Academy. Chris Pine has been offered the role of Kirk.

Paramount has set a November start date for the film, which will hit theaters on Christmas Day 2008.

Abrams and Stratton Leopold are producing, while Kurtzman and Orci will executive produce alongside Bryan Burk and Damon Lindelof.

Ugh!!! That is a very good dream. May I share it with you? There is always hope.

Yay for a Star Trek thread. Thanks for starting it and all the info, Nel. I believe that no thread is complete without more pictures.

So far we've got...

Zachary Quinto as young Spock:

Zoe Saldana as Uhura:

Anton Yelchin as Pavel Chekov:

Possibly Chris Pine as James T. Kirk:

The incomparable Leonard Nimoy as older Spock:

And the ubersexyhot Eric Bana as baddie Nero:

Damn! There goes Llyn's dream of Karl being Bones.

There's still a chance for Orlando. Can't he be one of the transporter room guys or maybe Nero's minion? Mmmm....Nero's minion....cough

At this point, I know I'm reaching but what the hell. I'll even take him as a Klingon.

the Shia LaBeuf rumour is just an opinion from Aintitcool, so there´s still hope...

I vote for Orlando as one of Nero´s gang too ... although I could take him playing any race of the entire galaxy... I could even find him hot as a blue skinned Andorian, antennas included

Orlando in a Federation uniform ! Late to this thread, but another Trekkie here. Not a super-uber trekkie, but I love all the shows. Eric as the baddie? Oh heck yeah . The cast looks great so far, but they really do need to get Orlando in there .

Maybe if Karl misses out on Bones he could be part of Nero's lot too. Bana, Bloom, Urban...

Lol the andorian idea. Would certainly be interesting to see!

Wouldn't you rather have the lot of them as Betazeds who have to attend a wedding in the buff? I should definitely be working on this movie.

What everybody said...Orlando doing a Scottish accent... *meep* And the pic! Although I'd love to see a version in Engineering red and maybe Sciences blue just to have the "set" of three...

You beat me to this Neldorwen...but thanks. I'm a huge Trekker myself (mostly Next Gen, BUT Scotty, Odo and the Holographic Doc are my faves in the other series...but Next Gen it's Data and Reg Barclay all the way). So I'm glad to see it...

and as you whised... Orlando in Starfleet Uniforms

I did this manips loooong ago

Neldorwen, these are WONDERFUL!! Thankyouthankyouthankyou...

And I especially love this one...you had to have used a Riker base. But Orlando in a Next Gen Command uniform...god he looks good in red...breathe, baby...

If you have more, bring it on, I'm a (very) willing victim...too bad you don't have a manip of Scotty's dress uniform with the kilt...ack, mental image of extreme effect on female anatomy, I'm gone...squeeee...

This thread rocks - Star Trek (Hand up - BIG fan), Orly in uniform...and all the rest. Poor Llyn, I swear that woman is going to self combust one day. I'll keep my fingers crossed for Karl for you girl.

Love the antenna comment - you could do a lot with one willy and two antennas (PG 13 Luna, PG 13 remember that)...I will be keeping an eye on you girls - I'll have to hose ready to cool you all down. And if Orly WAS Kirk, you could understand all that kissing then, couldn't you? I am so looking forward to this - fantastic casting so far. It will be nice to have some new faces to oggle...ahem..look at. But then, I WAS always VERY partial to Chakotay in the past.

*Right boys...unwind the hose and set 'er up...*
