I think one must take into consideration that the Chinese culture is different from ours. What we may find unoffensive, they may find offensive. For many years, the English people found the US films offensive to how they were portrayed, and this is how the Chinese government may be feeling.

as a chinese (from singapore!!), i definitely DID NOT find it offensive. it's a movie for F's sake! but seriously speaking, wallace is right. censorship is extremely strict there. even here in singapore, everything is censored...Extras which is usually 35+ minutes long is only 25minutes long because they tend to cut out a lot of "negative" bits. there's always a worry that someone might take offence at something and blow it out of proportion, and the govt just does not want to take that chance. i have a lot more to say about this, but being paranoid about the govt being all big brother like, i should stop

I think that is ridiculous! But they have the power to do what they want. Their choice should be respected.

Last year there were very indignant inhabitants of caraïbian islands stating they weren't cannibals I remember !!!! Of course the chinese are exaggerated in AWE ...as are all the others ( Teadrinking english , very filthy pirates, *****s ...in fact if you look at all the extras : they are ALL exaggerated , nobody is goodlooking and clean!)
Perhaps they thought it was a documentary?
