Outlander

Anyone a fan of Outlander on Starz channel? That's one show that gets my attention. If anyone else is a fan, I'll be more than happy to chat with you!

If you haven't seen it, I would highly recommend. The show is based off of a series of books by Diana Gabaldon. I've read the entire series like 5 times through! I think I can safely say it's my favorite series of all time - and that's saying a lot for me as I LOVE to read!!

Starz has done a great job of bringing the books to life for me, and the eye candy of the Scottish Sam Heughan doesn't hurt either (though rest assured he'll never be as good as Orlando)!

Me! I've watched all eps so far -not reading the books so no spoilers please -although it is hard to avoid some stuff .
Actually is Graham McTavish fault. Met him at a convention and he was so enthusiastic about the show I had to find out what it was about.

Love the show, the costumes, the landscape, the actors and Jamie.
Am trying hard to convince some of my friends to watch!

Ah let's have a pic of Jamie:

I keep trying to imagine Orlando with a Scottish accent and wearing a kilt
Aye me lassie...

Most definitely!! Being as it's on Starz, it's very racy at times, but it's REALLY GOOD!!!

OOOOOO YES!! I would TOTALLY be up for Orlando in a kilt!!

No spoilers, but I would definitely recommend the books!! Glad to hear that someone else has also seen the show and enjoys it! Yes, I was really happy when I saw that Graham was in the show!!! He was perfect for the part of Dougal!!! If you want to chat after the episodes or want some more convincing to try the books, give me a shout!!

And maybe with the gorgeous pic of Jamie, we can convince some of our fellow friends here on Orlando Love to join in on the fun!!

Considering Orlando's bottom-baring scenes in Zulu, I bet he'd go sans-undies!

I binge watched all the episodes and read the first book back in August. I got the 2nd book last month but I've been having issues with getting through it. I feel like there is too much useless info that could've easily been taken out of the book. For me it drags a bit so I have no idea when, or if, I will ever finish the book.

Keep trying to plug through the book!! Of all of them (and I've read the series like 3 or 4 times now), the second one was probably not my favorite. There's a lot of French intrigue stuff that doesn't interest me as much, HOWEVER, there is a LOT of important stuff that happens that will be helpful in the following books. You really need to get through this one to continue on with the others. I promise the others get more exciting again.

Maybe if you watch the second season of Outlander, it will help you get through the book. Trust me when I say it's worth it!!!

I thought the 2nd season doesn't start until next year? But yeah, I've heard from others that it does get better from the 2nd book. I will eventually get to it but at the moment I am just not to into it to continue.

I'm a big fan too but I have only watched the tv series. I'm not much of a reader and the trouble with reading is that it gets in the way with what you already imagined and read and what really happens on screen.
But I can imagine those who read years ago already and then watch it will always be different for good/or bad

I've heard from Sam Heughan himself that he will not read either to keep open minded to the script and focus on what happens there.
(HE is gorgeous in real life btw)

Yes. It's always a bit sad when they either leave something out that was in the book or change it. There were a couple of things in the first season that I was like "that's not right ... it didn't happen that way"!

But what I DO like is meeting the characters and seeing the places that I have loved for so long!!

(Glad to know he's as good looking in person as he is on screen ... )

Anyone been watching the 2nd season? It's good so far. I'm afraid to admit that I never finished the second book. I really want to but can't get myself to do it.

Read the first three books over 20 years ago. Enjoyed it, but have no desire to read the later books. Haven't seen the TV series yet.

Yep! Watched both episodes! I can't tell you how much I love these characters!!!

Of the entire series (and I am a MEGA fan), this was my least favorite book because I just didn't care for the French court stuff and all the spy/espionage. HOWEVER, there is a lot from the book that you want and need to know for the rest of the books. I can understand why you can't get into the book, though.

Thinking that maybe the show will entice you to continue the book

The French stuff is what bore me in the show and book. Once it was done on the show, it got better. I just might skip to the third book. Though it will be a while cause I have other things to read LOL.

Promised you it would get better after book 2! Yes, the French stuff bored me too. I think book 3 is possibly my favorite after the first. Meeting Bre and Roger. I was crying and squealing the entire last episode of season 2!
