Pouring my heart out in poetry form (PT)

Alright, I posted this and it got buried, so I wanted to put it up again. I want to know what you guys and gals think about it.
MAde this up on the fly last night.

You eyes gaze at me from the flat paper surface-
I know they cannot see me.
Your skin,
even on the paper it beckons my fingers,
I know you cannot feel me-
I know the hard surface of the wall
covered by the slick parchment is not you.
Your warmth,
your scent,
the thrumming of your heartbeat
I can almost feel them...
Almost, but not quite.
Your ears peek out from behind soft, errant curls
I know you cannot hear me.
Cannot hear the things I've whispered,
the tears I've sobbed
against the cool wall
you should be-
But you are not.
Why do I feel the tug,
the pull,
the whirlpool
whenever I look into your eyes?
Why do I imagine you can see me too?
My mind knows what is real.

But my heart won't believe it.

I don't venture into this section much, so I never saw this I think, but it's beautiful Sherina, just beautiful

New Poem by Sherina Sue (PT)

This was the product of a verrrrry boring college lecture- I had nothing to do, so I worked on this...(bad me, I know!) What do you think? Too bad it was a Physical Ed Theory class, and not English class!

An Old Friend

The pages are curled; the cover marred
The corners dog-eared; the spine crease-scrarred.
The tome sits waiting in dust among
modern mimics come newly along
And yet… I cannot let it lay.
It calls my name by rainy day
and sleepless night- “Come, crawl inside,
and within familiar forests hide.”

Its bright, bold and beckoning lands
Written by swift and gifted hands
Were born within a fertile mind
Behind keen eyes with ages lined.
Could this man have ever dreamed
How alive his worlds have seemed-
To countless numbers who implore
Vibrant new lands to explore?

How often in my mind have I
Crawled within the wood to lie
Beneath an oak so gnarled and bent
It might be either tree or Ent?
Or walked in Shire fields green and fallow;
Swum Rauros’ falls and Bruinen’s shallow-
So clear I see each vivid place
I recall each familiar face.

Soothing silken Elven song-
Horrible hammering, marching throng-
The echoing “Drums, drums in the deep”,
Sibilant hisses that shatter soft sleep-
Rohirrim steeds on thundering hoof,
The cracking fire on Shire thatched roof;
Such vivid sounds these words evoke-
From Hobbit song to Gollum’s croak.

I’ve ridden with Eomer ‘cross the Mark,
Cowered from Shelob in the dark,
Scrabbled with Sam through Emyn Muil,
Felt the blade as Frodo feels-
Stood with Gimli atop Helm’s Deep-
Heard Wormtongue up behind me creep.
Felt fear and pride for Eowyn,
Whose courage proved greater than many men-

Bit my lip at Boromir’s fate,
(who found his honor but all too late,)
heard the sharp twang of Legolas’ bow
shivered with Gandalf in Caradhras’ snow.
Quivered with dread as Sauruman
Proved every last shred of humanity gone.
Wept for joy as the King and his bride
before the White City stood side by side.

Found strength in battles with Pippin and Merry,
Fled from Black Riders, pursued to the Ferry,
Felt Bilbo’s loss and grief for his ring,
So much peril “for so little a thing.”
Old friends of mine- on pages hidden
Until to open again I am bidden,
And once again set my thoughts adrift
In Tolkien’s priceless, “precious” gift.

-S. Mos

That's really good Sherina. I love the flow of the rhyme. Very cool.

LOL! Have to laugh that you were inspired to do it during school. I'm often inspired to write during work. Never a good thing.

Wow Sherina, this is really good. I felt like I was there in each line as I was reading.
Makes me sad. ~sniff~

I printed it out and I'm hanging it on the wall next to my LoTR action figures.
