Anna Mackmin's production of David Storey's 1969 drama In Celebration, featuring Orlando Bloom (Pirates of the Carribean) in his West End debut, runs at the Duke of York's Theatre from July 5, with press night on July 12. The show is currently booking until September 15.

The full cast is Lynda Baron (Mrs. Burnett), Orlando Bloom (Steven), Gareth Farr (Colin), Tim Healy (Mr. Shaw), Paul Hilton (Andrew), Ciaran McIntyre (Reardon) and Dearbhla Molloy (Mrs. Shaw). It will be produced in the West End by Sonia Friedman Productions.

In Celebration is David Storey's "modern classic took audiences by storm at the Royal Court in the 1960's and established him as one of the country's most powerful playwrights. Three brothers - Andrew, Colin and Steven - return home to the northern roots of their childhood for a family reunion. Although they have returned to celebrate, the explosive complexities of family life and long-held grievances are unlikely to improve the chances of a decent party… Compelling and emotionally thrilling, In Celebration is an exploration of family love and of how the consequences of best intentions can threaten to destroy treasured hopes and dreams," state press materials.

In Celebration received its world premiere at the Royal Court Theatre in 1969 and subsequently Lindsay Anderson directed a film version with a cast including Alan Bates.

HE is sporting a new haircut eh? Wow. He is looking good.

Oh, I do love the facial hair. So Joe Bryne. Is his hair even shorter or is it just my imagination? Thank you, Ambayuun. I browse BroadwayWorld on a daily basis (take a guess why) and I never even saw this.

Yeah, I did edit it with the other picture. The pictures don't show up at the site, which is always a problem with BROADWAY WORLD (I do visit that quite often too, well, because of LEA). I had to refresh 15 times... Anyway, yes, the hair is indeed shorter, and curlier. Very Joe Byrne. HOT! :D

Wow, really? They showed up on the first click with me! It must have been cookies or something. Either way, he looks so very manly, even, and....porny. =P~

Mm. I love that hair. The shorter look on him suits his face. And that facial hair. *Sigh* Thanks a ton, amby. Now I'm off to swoon.

KayDee June 8th, 2007 10:25 PM

Man he looks absolutely fabulous! :thud: Can't wait to stare at him for 2 hours, only 43 days left! :pant:

caseymochridh June 8th, 2007 10:31 PM

Thanks for the pics, Amby! I do like the look, yummy! He did say in one of his interviews that the short cut was "me being me", so I guess this is the way he likes to wear it.

I am going to have to go in spirit with those lucky enough to see him on stage. Remember us poor starving OBsessed fans who have to imagine every move and sound he makes - piccies!!!! please!!!!

Marilyn Centonze June 8th, 2007 10:45 PM

My best friend and I just booked our flights to London... And I booked tickets to see In Celebration, too. So excited. Cannot wait to see him up close and in person... :eyebrows:

Please keep us all posted on the play... I'm sure they don't photograph it.

Thank you Amby:hug:

You know, you're right. His hair looks god-awful. I don't think you girls should even like him anymore. In fact, I really think no woman should like him because of that blasted hair. So why don't all of you mosey along to the Jake Gyllenhaal site, and I'll stay here and take care of it if/when he shows up, okay? Alas, the things I will do for you girls. :D

(PS: While the long hair is great for my scandalous vampire fantasies, on a personal level I much prefer this cut over all the rest. It's very mature but urban, the proper style for a guy who has grown up but wishes to maintain his edginess. In other words, I'll take ya'lls left-overs, as they say down here in the South.)

Savvy June 9th, 2007 08:53 AM

Moosemom,
I will definitely keep everyone posted!

Hopefully they'll release more promo pics... Short hair or not, he's still gorgeous!
